So is his voice, the emotion I feel listening to him (yes I do have Davids solo albums)

I've always been a huge fan of Dave Gilmour, but if Polly the Parrot is gonna start rattling the sabres & stirring discontent? Then I'd probably land on the the side of Roger Waters.

That's not true, at least in the beginning of his career. He was very good at imitating other guitarists, including, Jimi Hendrix and, of course, Syd.
