What's up, people! I'm back with another Wham! reaction from their 1984 album Make It Big, and this time we listen to the epic, classic, and soulful "Careless Whisper," a song I have known since my youth but hadn't heard in years. So join me as we return to Wham! Cheers!

It's hard to put into words just how good George Michael really is

One of the most memorable sax solos ever!

Careless Whisper is an all-time classic and will still be played a hundred years from now. I hope you also listen to The Final or Music OF The Edge Of Heaven because there are some good songs on there too.

Rumor has it that George's sister didn't like this song. She called it "Tuneless Whisper"

This is the time to give credit to Andrew Ridgley. They wrote this song together when they were 18 year old boys. And when George asked him, if he could release Careless Whisper as a George Michael solo single, he agreed. In the US it was released as Wham! feat. George Michael.
The Sax solo is so good - pure perfection! 🎷

Wham! broke up in 1986 and the song is from 1984. George Michael was 21 years old at the time, he wrote the song at 17 and Andrew Ridgeley provided the guitar riff.

Never heard that extended intro.I think they were right to drop it.
From memory, they wrote Careless Whisper really early on and had a cassette demo of it. but the labels were meh about it. It may even have been written around their first album.

This was a huge hit for George Michael after Wham! split up.

Maybe you can react to George Michael duets when you have time 😬

Andrew Ridgely probably has many nice things in life because he has a songwriting credit on this track. It's his only credit on this record.

SO much of the lyrics take on a whole other level of meaning, when realizing George Michael was still in the closet while writing these songs.

I believe I grew up with a different version... It is possibly the same exact mix, but with the intro before the first sax cutoff. Perhaps the radio edit? maybe its a different mix, after listening closer. The bass sounds more prominent in the edited version I am referring to, or that could just be the bass isn't come through YouTube as well?

You realise that if we ever did a collab, you are the Andrew Ridgely!
