I got my Atari 800 in ‘83 and transitioned from the crash of the video games market to the flourishing of the home computer. My times with the 800 from ‘83-‘88 were my favorite ever. From Infocom and Lucasfilm Games to the birth of EA itself, Antic and Analog magazines every month. I fully understand your excitement Jon.

Some things I've been wondering about: 1. Does the cartridge bay door open? What's in it? 2. If you plug a keyboard into it, can you access the menu and other functions with the keys and avoid using the included controller? 3. You have to take the controller apart for us. 4. Does it come with a power brick? What are the power requirements? 5. Please show us the menu and the method for adding games. 6. I wonder if there's a way to add a wifi module so you could use BBS software on it??? Kind of a rabbit hole there but many of us used these machines primary for that kind of thing.

What I'd really like to see is maybe a video that shows of the top 20 homebrews that it can run, that were made AFTER the year 1999. Or maybe even 2010. Or showcase some highlight games that aren't arcade games. Anything like adventures or full blown roleplaying titles. Something you can keep playing for a good while before you are done.

I obsessed over the 400 and 800 when I was a kid but the local price was $900 and $1800 respectively. That was a lot of money in 1982 and as a high school kid earning just $2.40 an hour I knew I'd never be able to afford one.

looking at the graphic of the different computers on the box unlocked a memory for me that I hadn't thought of in years. my HS's computer labs was outfitted with Atari computers. I had an Apple IIc at home, but at school we used whatever the late 80s Atari computer was. We still learned to type on IBM selectrics so i'm pretty sure this class was an elective or maybe it filled out a quarter with Driver's Ed and Health. Who knows it was so long ago, but now i remember listening to Mojo Nixon and playing on Mr. Kights computers

Jon, really interested in its compatibility with different types of Atari emulation files. .bin, .atr, .xex? if/how you can load up multi-disk (.atr)games and how's the 5200 emulation? how do you deal with the 5200 keypad? how's special Atari "yellow keys"... start, select, option and system reset handled? its awesome you have it in hand so we know that the official release date is likely to go off.

What a coincidence! I just got my delivery update. Since one has to roll their own power adapter, I'd like to know what of the input power requirements. If one plugged in all five USB ports, wouldn't that need a bunch?! Thanks! Great videos.

Can you program in BASIC? If you plug in a USB keyboard, does each keypress give the Atari BASIC beep sound? Can you create floppy disc partitions on an SDCard, and does it make the old floppy disc access sounds when reading / writing to the virtual floppy ? Does the cart bay open?

I would like to know the compatibility of the different media images from the USB. I.e. cassette, cartridge, and disk images. Also how BASIC based games are loaded. Oh, and how well USB keyboards work. Maybe a review and the image loading tutorials like you did with the Gamestation Pro?
