Oatman, Arizona is a former mining town and current tourist attraction known for its Wild West history and Route 66 location:
Mining history
Oatman began as a small mining camp in 1915 after two prospectors discovered gold worth $10 million. The town's population grew rapidly, reaching over 10,000 people. The Oatman District produced over $36 million in gold and silver between 1870 and 1980. However, the government shut down the remaining gold mining operations in 1941 as part of World War II.
Naming
The town was named after Olive Oatman, a 14-year-old girl who was kidnapped by Native Americans in 1851. Olive's story was a popular survival story in the late 1800s.
Route 66
A stretch of historic Route 66 runs through the middle of Oatman. Visitors can watch the Oatman Ghost Rider Gunfighters put on free shows in the afternoon.
Burros
Oatman is known for its wild burros that roam the streets. Visitors can buy special burro biscuits to feed them, but people food can make the burros sick.

With all this tourism I would think the place would have more than 43 people. The 43 is according to the 2020 census

A place to skip; you won't miss anything. A real tourist trap with all of the phony shops full of garbage.
