I watched this as a kid in theaters and definitely felt amusement by the delivery of the line.

But I absolutely felt the tension. And was the line itself being very provoking. You knew at that moment exactly what the rest of the movie was going to be about; Anakin’s transition to Palpatine’s apprentice.
