Health Connect will be available pre-installed on Android 14 and available through Settings. Users with earlier versions of Android will still be able to access Health Connect as an APK on the Play Store.

Seems like Health Connect is getting data only from its compatible apps. I want to get my smart watch - any brand - data from its app into Health Connect. Will I be able to do that?

Hey, really informative stuff. I discovered the Health Connect yesterday and am currently struggling with info sync.

My case:

Note: I want Samsung Health to be my source of truth athering data from multiple apps.

1. Zepp (Amazfit) internally connects with Google Fit. I use Amazfit for sleep, heart and steps data. This connection makes sure that I have my sleep data in Fit. I wear Amazfit 24/7.

2. I use Galaxy watch for info like workout (I only wear this while working out or biking).

3. I don't use Galaxy Fit for any metric because but still require it because it is the only way (per my knowledge) to get my sleep/steps data from Amazfit.

Note: Samsung Health does not allow its Galaxy steps data to be changed. So that's one constraint.

Objective: To be able to see steps, heart and sleep from Amazfit and workout from Galaxy on Samsung Health app.

Question: Which permissions do I select for Samsung Health and Google Fit in Health Connect to make sure there is no data duplication?

Does Health Connect support mindfulness/meditation data type ? I couldn't find this data type in the SDK.

Sounds like what I was asking for. For years !
I just switched to IPhone and iOS and I was shocked how Apple health did everything I always wanted Google fit to do.

thank you for the video. What is left unclear is how health connect and fit integrate, and how data and where data is stored. especially since I have been using fit as my storage.
should I allow fit to read and write all data? (to stay in sync) even if some of the data will always come from other appss/sensors?
doest fit transfer/sync all historic data? even if i remove write access later? (the "fit has no aceess anymore, do you want to delete its prevoious writen data" is very hard to understand)

This should be integrated in Settings, not a separate app. Hopefully it will be in Android 14.
