Schrade SCAXE2L - Extreme Survival Axe: New, Full-sized Camping & Wilderness Survival Axe

The Schrade SCAXE2L is the full-sized version of the Schrade SCAXE2 (Review link below). The SCAXE2L comes with a comfortable, ergonomic handle, a fire steel included in the handle, and I found the weight just about right - heavy enough to give you some power, but not too heavy to carry. The Schrade SCAXE2L was great to use. I liked it more than the Gerber Back Paxe 2 and the Estwing axes that I have also reviewed. Check it out!

One thing you might have overlooked, the hole at the blade - it is for you to hold the spindle head for a bow drill fire starting...

An excellent review on an excellent axe. Thank you. I have had mine for 4 months. It has a better carry-pouch (Kydex-style, but made out of some sort of plastic polymer - as is via e-bay). And it did not arrive with that silly sharpening stone monstrosity. Great for back-packing, camping, emergency, etc. It does the job very well.

I prefer the plastic/kydex sheath that came with the younger brother. The nylon one just seems a bit cheap.
