I usually don’t care for makeup drama but I found this hilarious like the falsies looked so obvious

Doesn’t she realize that once you lose your reputation it’s incredibly hard to get it back. She’s probably just killed her career if she had one??

to be honest, mikayla always felt insincere and forced to me she never really grew on me and now i can kinda see why that is 💀

Unfortunately, it’s not only the mascara she lies about but also the beauty filters that fade/hide her acne/blemishes when reviewing other beauty products like foundation, and when people point it out she gets defensive about it. I didn’t want to believe it at first because Mikayla was someone I trusted when it came down to reviews for makeup 😢

It’s the fact that she thought her audience was dumb enough to not notice the fake lashes 💀

What irritates me is that I see people defending her like that's her job she got paid to do that. The problem is is that her supporters have stuck with her through it all she has built a personal relationship and trust with them, the fact that she would lie for financial gain is not okay! She literally didn't have to lie

I really think the problem isn’t the fact is a sponsorship. Is the fact she built her entire brand on being an “honest” beauty YouTuber, with dozens of videos debunking all these marketing tactics and she turned out to be just like the people she used to expose. There are dozens of ways to do a cool sponsorship and the mascara is great, I use it. Its one of my favorites and there was no reason to lie about a product everyone knows is great. Also, I feel like this is could jeopardize her deal with L’Oreal, but that’s another conversation.

it’s just surprising she thought no one would notice when her entire audience is made up of people who know a lot about makeup / lashes / etc. if anyone was going to notice, it would definitely be her audience

How fascinating; when she concentrates on her mascara, her accent just disappears.

I used to feel bad for her when so many people would come after her but not this time. Miss girl, you put yourself in this situation. She better not come back and use mental health as an excuse for her lies

I love how L’Oréal told all these influencers to go into detail about how to use the brush so they’re all saying “GO ROOT TO TIP” like sis how else am I gonna do it

mascara doesn’t put whole new eyelashes on your face lol. i wanna believe that a mascara can do that, but it can’t. if anyone can trust her reviews after this i’ll be shocked

I can't BELIEVE so many people in Mady's tik tok about her going "well it's okay to lie in SPONSORED VIDEOS because big companies do it all the time." were like "OMG yas queen speaking truth!" Here's a lesson on the FTC: The Federal Trade Commission is a bipartisan federal agency with a dual mission to protect consumers & promote competition, which is why they've blocked Disney in the past from acquiring too much. And they had announced back in 2017, that it is, in fact, watching celebrities, athletes, and other influencers on SM.

Its staff sent out more letters reminding influencers and marketers that they must clearly and conspicuously disclose their relationships when promoting or endorsing products through social media. They cracked down hard on large companies like Lord and Taylor, Google, and iHeartMedia for deceptive ads. Movie trailers might be entirely different thanks to the _Yesterday_ lawsuit where Ana de Armas was featured in the trailer, but not so much in the movie. Movie studios can be sued under false advertising laws if they release deceptive movie trailers.

Listen sweeties you wanna know WHY people were FREAKING OUT over the girlies in Dubai not talking up Tarte in the Dubai trip? Because it was a sponsored trip. So, with it being a SPONSORED TRIP they needed to really SELL us the new products, as well as tarte overall. They failed to do this, probably because no one sent them a memo. Movie trailers can be a bit deceptive, because no one wants the movie spoiled for them before they go and see it; but because of the _Yesterday_ lawsuit, that could change. Movie trailers are like little white lies. No one had a problem with the shot of the Avengers all running together in _Infinity War_ not being in the movie, because the REST of the movie was incredible. But movies like _Morbius_ which heavily featured _Spider-Man_ characters would come under fire for such deceptive tactics.

Things are changing, and people want more and more transparency. Which, is all fine and good, but there's gonna be a line crossed somewhere. Question is where?

She could have literally done one side with just mascara and then one side with the added false lash to show the contract between the two to skip all this drama but I doubt she thought she was going to get this much hate

The fact that she really thought no one would notice. I’m screaming 😭😭😭

Influencers need to realize that a lot of us are traumatized from believing beauty gurus from the mid 2010’s (ex. Jaclyn hill, Manny MUA etc.) who lied about how great products were just to make a quick buck… (don’t even get me started on the non disclosed sponsorships). if I were an influencer I wouldn’t even try to play with people’s hearts or money like that lol, it’s always gonna bite back in the end
