I hope they improved the BATTERY LIFE, since my Surface Pro 8 doesn't last more than 5 hours (even optimizing consume, brightness, 60 Hz. and others) since day 1. And like me, 80% of the Surface Pro owners.

I'm most interested in a Surface Go 4 with an ARM CPU at least as powerful if not more so than the 8xc chip and seriously improved battery life with some weight and thickness all shaved off closer to that of the iPad Air in both of these.

The portability and use in combo of an e-book reader, media device and on-the-go utility device (replace my phone as I really hate the small screen size to look at) would be immensely useful.

I just had to buy a bunch of leaving gifts for people and my back-pack is really heavy including my laptop. Shaving off the weight is a big draw. Perhaps the Surface Pro 9 is good for business users but the Go imho is MS can make the biggest market penetration - if they ever decide to get serious...

Hey Andrew, could you squeeze in a gaming test once you get your hands on the Surface Pro 9 with the ARM? All of the reports regarding 8xc gen 3 suggest a significant increase in gaming performance but there is no video about it online or any benchmark. I imagine most people just don't care about gaming on a machine and a form factor like this but I'm curious. I went ahead and rewatched your video on Lenovo Thinkpad X13s (since more or less they share the same chip) but you didn't mention the gaming performance, understandably since most likely, it is an afterthought in that machine's target audience as well. Keep up the good work :)

imo most surface users are people that use zoom and similar a lot so good webcam, battery life and connectivity are NEEDED. So while the 5g option on one of the models is great news, 720p webcam on this kind of laptop is definitely bad.

Super disappointing to see the thick bezel around the display instead of going slim like new laptop models. The (lack of) ports are really annoying, especially on a 15" surface laptop, they should have given at least 2 usb c / thunderbolt ports. The use of the proprietary charger port and with the surface dock requires display port input / output instead of HDMI, which requires another dongle to convert hdmi cables / a direct display port cable (which is uncommon in my workplace where all our monitors are cabled via hdmi).

The price difference between surface laptop 4 & 5 really doesn't justify. Overall, I will be going for the surface laptop 4 for now, 15" i7 16g version.

Curious why the Surface Laptop 5 only is available with 32GB in the black metal 15" version...at least from the Dutch site. Maybe when your pre-ordered version is in review you can comment on this aspect.

If I am right Laptop 5 has approx 50 nits brighter display than Laptop 4. Good if this is right. Because glossy display needs brightness.

The only one that I like for myself would be the Surface Pro 9 5G. How much is 5G data typically for a device like this? Do you add it to your mobile plan or buy a ceratin amount prepaid?

I am at Microsoft Ignite and they have the new devices here. Basically it’s a SL4 with 12th Gen Intel and TB4. Nothing else. Honestly, not sure why they stick with the same SL design as the bezel is large and the style is feeling dated. Plus no AMD anything and no Pluton chips.

Why are they STILL using a 720P camera on the SL??? This is getting ridiculous now.
Otherwise.. not too bad overall.
SS2+, a rather peculiar name for a product upgrade after 5 years. 11th Gen Intel is understandable. At least they are more ports and they have made some tweaks.

I almost decided to sell my previous generation laptop and upgrade to the surface laptop 5 (sage version) but no ryzen, no money. 😕
