I wanted to step out of my comfort zone for a bit so I made this ;v; mostly for clean lines because I always use rough/sketchy ones.

I was on a nice little hike when he showed up.

The woods are a pretty amazing place, honestly. Tall pine trees with their earthy, heavy scents and the gigantic oaks and sycamores with their huge leaves. Around here, the cliffs can get huge, and you can look over the forest for miles. It's kind of awesome, and I would highly recommend it to anyone listening.

Anyway, as I was saying, I was out on a hike when the sky went dark. Naturally, I looked up to see what it was, but the fast-moving object had already crossed over me, crashing into the forest and leveling a good portion of it. The wind nearly blew me over, but I stood my ground and held a hand to my forehead, trying to see what it was.

Well over a hundred feet tall. Five gigantic red eyes with slitted yellow pupils in a line across the center of a black mound of flesh, massive tentacles writhing some distance behind it, and gazing down straight at me. My eyes widened somewhat, but I didn't react aside from that, choosing to see what would happen.

Its voice, when it spoke, was thunderous. *"I have come to take you."*

I frowned, my eyes narrowing. "...Let me ask my mom."

As I whipped my phone out of my pocket, fingers typing rapidly and steadily to unlock it (the password is 3198 if anyone is curious), the monster leaned over a bit more, mild worry in its eyes. *"It's not a choi-"*

I glanced back up from the phone. "She says no."

It blinked. *"But-"*

I pulled a handgun out of my waist holster - you never knew when you might run into bears or something - and aimed it at the thing. I had a feeling that it wouldn't do much, but I felt a little better either way. "Leave."

It backed away, raising its tentacles politely. *"Oh, okay, cool your jets, I'm going..."*

Diving down into the forested growth, it shrank until it was practically invisible, and then disappeared from sight entirely. Shaking my head, I put my gun back in my holster and sent a quick text back to Mom.

_"Did you know him?"_

There was a long wait, and then I received her text.

_"We should talk."_
