They're by far the most efficient way of transportation where I live. Cars should be banned from entering to city centers long before electric scooters. They're much more of a nuisance/danger.

Edit: From others comments I see the discussion is mostly about the electric scooter *rentals.* That's also what Paris's ban is focusing on. I agree, the rentals should be banned everywhere as they're littering the cities.

that reminds me of the story of the car invention, many people were against it and they had a concern about security.. the scooter as well brings challenges but in general, most people are against any change or innovation, let's see where it will go in the future..

I contacted a bunch of insurance companies(my own included) to get insurance but none offer scooter insurance yet. I would pay, because insurance protects both parties.

In Melbourne, Australia they are causing controversy as so many people flout the laws when using the scooter. As there’s no insurance the chance to rely on insurance if there was an accident is the big worry for people. I cant hear them when they’re behind me and the consequences of being run over by one is real.

The reason england doesnt allow fast moving vehicles on public footpaths is because they cant stop as quickly as pedestrians can.

Ive seen these things going over 20mph on a footpath and imagine if someone unexpectedly steps sideways into the scooters path and heaven forbid it be a young child

People often dont see or understand that they are a part of the community in which they live. Everything, everyone of us does, affects everyone and everything but who cares about that right?

Swedish research showed people use them so they don't have to walk. It doesn't replace cycling, mopeds or motorbikes.

All e stuff should be reconsidered ( loud pipes save lifes)
Furthermore their users have a absolute lack of road rules or common sense.

Sadly it’s the pricks who ride and crash into people and cars that are ruining their reputation. Riding them far too fast glued to their mobile phones, or even carrying another passenger on them 🤦‍♂️. Then if they do collide into someone they get up and ride off because they are not insured and won’t accept liability.

Very good i own one of these but remember to ride carefully and safely

Rentals should be banned and private use should be allowed. This way you won’t see scooters scattered all over the city and riders will be more responsible with scooters they’ve actually paid for.

The problem is that most drivers are tourists that disregard or don't know how traffic works in the visiting country. They leave them in any place. They should be banned.

I think that e scooter rentals are the issue rather than the e scooters themselves. There shouldn’t be a ban on private e scooters but e scooter rentals should be banned with docked e-bikes replacing them

I just brought one today 😂some states here in Australia have banned them, thankfully not my state.

Indiference towards the e-scooters…

Hate towards the that leave them everywhere in the pavements and cause accidents or obstacles in the mobility of handicapped people like the blind.

No thought whatsoever from those reckless and dumb people towards the well being of others.

Why don’t you go build a go cart and ramp like I did as a kid in the 70s? Youngsters today are far too lazy and soft! Broken Britain

All of these so called "progressive" cities and politicos. They are all about clean energy if it's a model/brand they are making money from with contracts and whatnots.
