I remember all my friends putting out ridiculous ringtones and having one call the other to embarrass each other. :')
God I miss the 00's

Having everyone shut up in the car so you can record your ringtone when the perfect song comes on.

remember how some of them stupid brick phones had a feature that would make them beep when they were dying that you couldnt turn off and they would literally beep themselves to death? I would straight up have to take the battery out.

I remember being in church with my phone ringing. That Lil Wayne ringtone sounded so much louder in the middle of a prayer.

Got my phone taken away from me in ‘04 when Tipsy by J-Kwon started blasting.

Worst part was it was my grandmother calling me. 😭

I lose my phone all the time now because of this and everyone always says, “stop putting your phone on silent!” And I say “aight” and continue to leave it on silent. The trauma is real

Why is it always math class, though?!

Seriously, I can remember being in Algebra 1, and the teacher paused to listen before asking, "Is someone's phone ringing . . . ?" It was a default ringtone in the days of the Nokia brick, so everyone was checking their phones trying to figure out whose it was.

Then there was me, way in the back, who at the time absolutely hated cell phones and barely knew how to use one, suddenly realizing it was mine, buried down in the bottom of my backpack. So I start digging through and dumping my bag yelling, "Tammy, you turned my phone on when you sat on my backpack with your stupid butt!" Normally, the policy was if your phone rang in class, the teacher took it and your parents had to come pick it up after school, but I had this war veteran math teacher laughing so hard at the sheer indignance in my voice that he didn't even care.

He suggested maybe putting it in a side pocket from now on once he stopped crying from laughing so hard.

reminds me of the time a boy wanted to use music during his presentation. He connected his iPod to the doc. He didn't know it was on shuffle. Loudly, "smoke weed everyday" blared from the speakers to the delight of our fourth grade music class.

That was me in university for a biology lecture with 300 students. My ringtone kept going and I had to removed my battery for it to stop. At least it was "OMG" by Usher lol.

My siblings and I recorded ourselves screaming "Mom, message!" and "Mom, there's a call for you!", then set it as the respective ringtone for incoming mesage and call. Later that evening, she was FUMING as she sat us down and told us not to play with her phone.
It turned out that my mom forgot to put the phone on silent in a meeting with the hospital directors' board, and someone called her. The very serious meeting was halted by the repeating screams of 5 kids telling their mom that she's got a call 😅

Back in the 00’s my older sister’s text notification sound was a little voice that piped: “let me out I’m stuck in your pocket!”

I am not a millennial, but I am a GenZ but my first ringtone is the Halloween theme song and one time my in the middle of class, everybody turned around and look quickly, and I speed walk to my phone and all I thought of was that since they heard my ringtone, my phone was going to be taken away, but that did not happen, and as soon as I press the button to refuse to talk to that number then one of my classmates said that ring tone scared me.

Day 3 of a new job, just clicked on this video while sitting in my office and I didn't know my media sound was on full blast. I got the authentic anxiety experience worrying about the grown-ups that share walls with me hearing it. At least it's one of my favorite songs 😂
