A Marxist Critique of Libertarianism

Hi, I am back after a short hiatus, with a critique of right-wing libertarianism, not so much on its philosophy, but more on its grasp of material reality and socio-economic issues, which is definitely more important than theorizing from the top of an ivory tower. This video essay analyzes notably how capitalism was constructed, debunks cronyism and deconstructs the principles of neoliberalism.

Very intelligent video. I can tell this channel will keep growing.

Not that I’m a stickler for “neutrality” or “objectivity”, but I’d say a much better title for this is “A Marxist Critique of Libertarianism”.

Very steeped in ideology, but still hits the truth spot on despite analyzing things very differently than I would.

Keep up the good work.

Hey, nice video, Charlitics. If you're ever hard up for material, you should do a video on monetary policy and why it is inherently inflationary, fractional-reserve banking, etc. I don't think enough people understand how money is created and why it is bad. Keep up the good work.

The sad thing is that although all this stuff is so obvious, so few can see it... loved the video :)

Nice video. Congratulations. It was on my home feed btw. And I would encourage you to work more on the thumbnail. It's not as eye-catching as the video itself ;)

0:37 as far as i know modern right libertarianism has nothing to do with hayek. Hayek was an austrian economist but he was not the basis of libertarianism. Carl menger was the one who founded the austrian school

Great video!!
Though I am a libertarian (socialist), so we probably disagree on a lot.

Where do academic philosophical libertarians get their money? Do they have real jobs?

You should make a series on *Insert Ideology Here" Get Wrong. Left Market Anarchism, Geolibertarianism, Georgism, Marxism, Liberalism, Democratic Socialism, etc.

In addition to the horrors of the Great Depression, never forget the 50 million deaths from the Soviet Union only and millions more in the other communist countries that these myths are responsible for!

That's not the only problem with your line of thought. Unfortunately, you also seem to be lacking logical consistency throughout your argument. You start by correctly presenting the libertarian philosophy as the lack interference from the government, yet you base your entire argument on the effects of what any libertarian would classify as interventionism, not as capitalism (expropriation, the marxist idea of primitive accumulation FOR THE CAPITALISTS is a contradiction in itself). Laissez-fair capitalism can't be enforced by the state, by definition. That's statism, not capitalism, and it's precisely what libertarians oppose to!

You seem very young and particularly smart for your age, and, of course, you are free to believe whatever you want, but before publicly calling two Nobel Prize laureates "insane" (I'm referring to your starting statement in your video, "Libertarians are insane"), you should first spend some time with their work and, at least, make sure you've got the facts right.
