Гора Торатау — уникальный природный памятник и один из главных символов Башкирии. Гора изображена на гербе города Ишимбай и Ишимбайского района. Белая полоса здесь обозначает не только известняковое происхождение горы, но и чистоту помыслов живущих здесь народов.
Торатау часто называют просто Шихан. Вообще, шихан — это географическое название одиноко стоящей горы с пологим склоном.

Всего в окрестностях Ишимбая три шихана — Куштау, Юрактау и Торатау. Когда-то существовал еще и Шахтау.

Особенности шихана Торатау

С башкирского Торатау переводится, как крепость-гора. Есть также версия с булгарского — Гора-Святилище или Бог-Гора. И третий вариант перевода — Гора Высшего закона.

Торатау — одна из древнейших гор на Земле, ее возраст около 285 миллионов лет.
Гора в древности была коралловым рифом и теперь полностью состоит из окаменевших останков древних форм жизни — моллюсков, водорослей, кораллов. По ним можно изучать историю развития жизни на Земле. До сих пор изучаются членистоногие, которые обитали здесь 540–250 млн лет назад. Не так давно были найдены окаменевшие деревья высотой четыре метра, появившиеся здесь 290 млн лет назад.

Mount Toratau is a unique natural monument and one of the main symbols of Bashkiria. The mountain is depicted on the coat of arms of the city of Ishimbai and the Ishimbai district. The white stripe here denotes not only the limestone origin of the mountain, but also the purity of the thoughts of the peoples living here.
Toratau is often referred to simply as Shihan. In general, shihan is the geographical name of a lonely mountain with a gentle slope.

In total, there are three shikhans in the vicinity of Ishimbai — Kushtau, Yuraktau and Toratau. Once there was also Shakhtau.

Features of Shihan Toratau

From Bashkir, Toratau is translated as a fortress-mountain. There is also a version from the Bulgarian-Mountain-Sanctuary or God-Mountain. And the third translation option is the Mountain of the Highest Law.

The mountain was a coral reef in ancient times and now consists entirely of the fossilized remains of ancient life forms — mollusks, algae, corals. They can be used to study the history of the development of life on Earth. Arthropods that lived here 540-250 million years ago are still being studied. Not so long ago, fossilized trees with a height of four meters were found, which appeared here 290 million years ago.

El Monte Toratau es un monumento natural único y uno de los principales símbolos de Bashkiria. La montaña está representada en el escudo de armas de la ciudad de Ishimbai y el distrito de ishimbai. La franja blanca aquí denota no solo el origen calizo de la montaña, sino también la pureza de los pensamientos de los pueblos que viven aquí.
Toratau a menudo se llama simplemente Sheehan. En general, Sheehan es el nombre geográfico de una montaña solitaria con una pendiente suave.
