Apologies to our viewers for the incorrect and incomplete information about participating guest teams in the Hero Intercontinental Cup and the SAFF Championship 2023. At the time when this video was made, AIFF or SAFF hadn’t announced the teams that will participate so we had to rely on whatever new we got from the reputed journalists & popular media houses!

*The Intercontinental Cup 2023 will be played in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha between June 9 and 18. The three participating teams other than hosts India wil be Lebanon, Vanuatu and Mongolia.*

Point to be noted about the possible African team that we mentioned in the video was about Rwanda, but informed AIFF that they cannot participate due to some compulsions. Meanwhile, the West Asian Team that we mentioned was Lebanon and Vanuatu being the team from another continent. Mongolia was called up at the last moment to replace Rwanda.

*For the SAFF Championship, so far Malaysia/Saudi Arabia have neither informed about their will to participate as the 8th guest teams, thus fresh set of invitations have been send to several other countries, among whom Kuwait has been announced to participate in the upcoming edition as the 7th team. The SAFF committee have a meeting in Dhaka on 6th May where they will discuss and finalize the second guest team other than Kuwait & 6 SAFF nations.*

Upcoming Competitions:

i) Intercontinental Cup: (9-18 June)

Teams: Mongolia (183), Vanuatu (164) and Lebanon (99)

Lebanon will be the best test for India here. Don't fall for the FIFA ranking. They may be only 2 ranks over India but they play in the middle east (i.e. they face so many quality opponents like Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Qatar etc).

ii) SAFF Championship: (21-30 June)

Teams: Kuwait (Invitee, 143), Maldives (154), Nepal (174), Bhutan (185), Bangladesh (192), Pakistan (195)

India should honestly play their U-23 team for some games here as to rest the senior team. The Kuwait game will be a big game though. Again don't fall for their ranking. They recently beat UAE, Tajikistan and Bahrain!

iii) King's Cup Thailand: (September)

Teams: Thailand (114), Lebanon (99), UAE (72)

This is BIG one. This will be an acid test as we will face UAE there. Lebanon too will be a big test once again.

iv) Merdeka Cup Malaysia: (October)

Teams: Malaysia (138), Lebanon (99), Palestine (93)

This is also a huge tournament. Lebanon once again there! Also, Palestine is going to be a very important as well.

v) Asian Cup 2023: (January)

What a surprise! 2023 Asian Cup in 2024. It's because of host Qatar and its hot weather of course to host it in winter. All those friendly tournaments lead upto this big tournament. Don't have much hope, but if we qualify for the knockouts it will be massive achievement.
