Finale v27 New Feature Overview

Finale v27 - the latest version of the world's most powerful music notation software - is available now. V27 launches with new features, such as:

Interactive music sharing
Standard Music Font Layout (SMuFL) support
Revised instrument database
MusicXML 4.0 support
Bug fixes and quality of life updates

This is clearly just a bug update, these "new" features are already implemented for free in other notation software. How they have the gall to charge $150 to go from 26 to 27 is beyond me.

I'm a working musician and I don't know anybody around me (people who work in the industry) who paid for Finale. I was considering buying it but it's way too damn expensive. They would make a ton more money if they dropped the price and fix their legendary bugs

As a percussion instructor, it's worth it for me just to finally get the correct playback on percussion instruments. Though, this is something that should have always been.

I have the exact same bugs since finale 2012, reporting a bug is a nightmare because they openly mock you and will never fix it.
I paid 3 times to buy and upgrade and will never do it again.

Well, we will see. Because every time they have a new version, they say its the best, and ohh surprise, it still a pain in the but. For what I can tell so far, not much have changed in terms of user friendliness. For instance, entering triplets, or modify triplets is a pain, moving and pasting notes or transposing notes, it still requires to open a menu select and bla bla bla, other notation programs its just a matter of select, and move up and down, or move without having to open a menu for that that easy. But noo, finale has to make it harder. When you have a project with a deadline, the last thing you want to have to do is to wrestle with the software. This time I will try the free version before I buy it. So far the most advertised improvement is the one none has problems with, share your music easy, I have never have problems with that or with PDF conversion. If I have to base it on the video, or in the emails they have send for the last weeks, I suspect its going to be another bluff; just like the previous versions. The Key is to make it intuitive and user friendly, but some how they still missing the point. With a different software I can work almost twice as fast that with finale, and deliver projects way faster and better engraved. Probably you can do it with finale too, but it takes so much time to figure out simple basic things that with other software are just almost second nature, and intuitive. I don't remember the last time I met a composer or engraver that still using finale.

note: I am not associated with any software company in any way. I am just one more user that is frustrated with finale, and stopped using it not that long ago due to all of the above reasons that probably the people from finale are going to keep ignoring as always, just because they are sooo smart!!!

This is an embarrassing cash grab. Hiding big fixes behind a pay wall? I will say the share music aspect is nice and joins a normal expectancy in 2021. But the idea that the font is improved is a marketable cost is comical. Not as comical as you fixing your sound data base relative to instruments selected. Like... that is on your end. You want us to pay you for having the correct sound of an instrument. That is weird.

why the program block speaker system on my PC when finale is open? How to fix it, can somebody tell me? It's soooo annoying!

I can't help noticing that jazz chart has the bones voicing a few Bb7s (e.g. bar 3, bar 7) when the rhythm section has another C9 notated. You should probably figure out which one you want and fix the other parts!

As the comments below. And still can't import pdf's. So if you need a key change, just re-enter all the notes on all the parts. Simple, but might take awhile!

So we're supposed to pay $150 for a patch, an ability to share, and fonts? I'd rather spend that $150 on a more modern intuitive notation software.

This isn't worth the the $150 upgrade Finale. This is a disappointing. Paying for bug fixes? You should have offered this upgrade for free. I would hope FINALE will correct this poor decision.

I use V26. Too expensive for too for Upgrade.... No fixed many bugs (Preferences) as globals fonts, globals options, Lyrics fonts etc
