I kinda think they could be a lot of different pointless variables in the D-7, cause of differing families that produce them or changes that the different families do for whatever reasons they may have also on such a long service run like the D-7 there could be changes by the same shipyards that come out of materials and or technologies. The D-7 is got to be one if not the longest run for a ship in service.

I dunno about that bright silver. I mean, David Gerrold said back in the TOS days that the Klingons were the Mongol Hordes with spaceships and ray guns.

I'll stick with a muted silver/light grey with light shine for the D7. (Was able to see some of the studio models, so I might be cheating a little)

The K'Ting'a is much more of a darker grey scheme, with a lot of reddish highlights/panels.

They did not use a Ktinga model.

Greg Jein built a D7 model specially for this episode.

In fact, the D7 that appeared in Voyager was lambasted because THAT was a Ktinga CGI model.

The writer for that episode thought the the D7 from TRIALS was going to be used.

People can have their D7 in whatever color they want. So long that it‘s silver.

With so many Great Houses with their own forces, why should there be any standard paint scheme?

Considering that D6s are often depicted as that klingon green from TNG and Enterprise eras, pre-TOS D7s having a little green then becoming paler over the timeline would make sense to me.

Why are Romulan and Klingon ships both green so often? What in-universe explanation does or could exist that covers the green look and the lack of it during TOS? I only ask because I have thought about it once or twice before.

Agreed, the new D7 model would look great in bright silver or or even the original eggshell white. Distinguish it from the K'tinga. Some TOS style klingon emblems would be nice too

I loved playing Star Trek 25th anniversary as a kid on DOS. The space battles were fun. especially with the Klingons

Perhaps the D7s are painted with Electroluminescent paint. This is a light-emitting coating that can turn any surface, such as the body of a vehicle, into a light. What does this actually mean? Essentially, the paint system changes color when an electrical current passes through it, causing it to emit the color of choice. Just saying...

Could the ‘uncolored’ battleship grey and silver be a product of mass production in the era? The Klingon Empire was cranking these vessels out like crazy during the 23C, and maybe it was cheaper at the time to just have a massive fleet of D7s without the more advanced plating that we see in the later K’T’inga refit and B’rel bird of prey, which (at the start, at least) weren’t as numerous in the Empire’s fleet.

It'd make sense if ships from different Klingon houses had different colours. Would be fitting for a Klingon crew to display their allegiance with pride, and would also be useful for captains to know which houses they were dealing with at a glance whenever they came across a ship. It's not like a Klingon captain would do something so dishonourable as to wear another house's colours. False flag ops would be unthinkable.

id say the colour depends on what the og Captain wanted at the time or the architect ot the colour of the material of the time.

Ex astris scientia says Trials and Tribble ations used a proper D7 model. I likewise find it hard to believe DS9 would make that mistake. That's more Voyager-like

Why not go to the Science fiction museum in Seattle, Washington. The original ship is being displayed over there.

The simple explanation is that in 60's they have really primitive models and TOS ships basically have same color for every ship. What is ugly refrigerator yellow. Later interpretations recolored Enterprise on gray. When TMP canonized silver-white as standard color of Federation. And TNG canonized colors of both Klingon and Romulans as different shades of green. I see no reason why D7, what is shared project between those two nations, to not be standard green. Difference can be easily blamed on sensor jamming.

I'm not a fan of the cannons Transformers-ing out of the nascelles, but otherwise looks pretty good

I think it's Russian green, because the movies were made during the Cold War, Discovery doesn't count.
