Almera is the best for Cebu amongst the 3, in my view at least. We have city and mountains, not much highways and no expressways as vast as Luzon and Mindanao. The 35L tank is not going to be a problem as well because with a fuel efficiency of 18 to 22km/l, you're looking at 650 to 770km per full tank. Even if we drop that to a conservative 15km/l that's still 525kms. That's about 18 to 25kms a day for a whole month. Cebu island is only 256kms north to south. Cebu City is only 15kms north to south. So yeah, our odometers are not so banged up. The Honda City comes a close second. All a matter of preference, really, and how it adapts to your location, what you use the car for (mainly) and yeah, let's add loyalty and past experience with the brand haha. Granted, I was expecting the Almera to be a tad bit cheaper but it is what it is.

I just got my CITY RS 2022. Only quite disappointed with the instrument cluster that looks like as basic and downgraded; the suede and cloth materials combination with leather; the fixed rear headrest and lastly the reverse camera that looks cheap.

But still I would pick my City RS over the two competitors.

Almera might have lost by technicality of the pointing system but it wins on the things that matter the most. Driving performance and fuel efficiency. The other categories that City and Emgrand won on looks and accessories are mostly on preference. In my opinion, all in all, Almera actually won this comparo.

Honda City is overall winner for me. Tried and tested engine that equates to performance and durability. After all cars are meant to be driven always, therefore we need a reliable partner on the road. Not to mention few good dealerships for after sales service, good numbers of available fast moving parts and much more. But thanks to Geely Emgrand, I believe few years from now most Japanese and Korean automakers will catch up with the features that Chinese automakers are offering with the price range. Nissan Almera is what I call the most improved sedan in its segment.

using my Nissan Almera for 9 months now. if you're on the lookout for a subcompact sedan, highly recommend this one. it's a fun car to drive, very peppy even with the smaller engine thanks to that turbo. especially fun driving on expressways. fuel economy has been around 9-12 km/l in the city on speeds ranging between an average of 25-50kph. On mixed to highway driving, i usually get 18-23 km/l. CVT is also great, 95% of the time there is no delay. Only very seldom when the car seems to not move as soon as you depress the accelerator. PMS cost is also quite cheap.

PS. If you're around Laguna/Quezon, avoid Nissan Lipa dealership as they have poor customer service and it took 6 months before I got my freebies and 8 months before I got my LTO license plate.

I just got my Geely Emgrand and it's pretty darn good for my day to day work. For me, value for money is justified with Emgrand. It's worth it!

I agree with this review, because I own an emgrand, It is true that the geely emgrand needs more power on the engine.

One thing I really hate are underpowered vehicles. Which is why I'm not really attracted to the MPVs we have now like the xpander, rush, avanza, ertiga, etc2x. If you're new to driving, you won't realize it yet but having the right amount of power in your vehicle is also a safety feature that'll really save you from accidents.

The almera is Fun to drive, outstanding fuel efficiency, comfort, and the style and looks that won't age much even after 10 years. Not a lot of drivers are uber tech savy so some entertainment factors doesn't affect much but they put their tech more on what's going to help the driver more like 360° camera. I saw one in the road can't help but to smile and feel jealous about the owners ride.

I really like how Kako did this comparo, although my scoring would have been different from theirs, but how they give significant insights about each sedan on every category aids a lot on how I judge each car. Kudos, AutoDeal!

I'm a new driver and we just acquired our Emgrand Comfort a few months ago as of this writing. I did notice the points that you mentioned during your Hill Challenge when I drove our car around our area with slight inclines and curved roads, and it does feel underpowered, but the comfort inside the car is the selling point for me. Loved the control of the car and how big the space inside is.

Very nice review. I'm having nassan Almera turbo but it's slightly different. I have sport mode. From your review I will go for Nissan, bcos its fuel efficient, reliable, and more stable to drive. In addition spare part and maintenance more cheap with Almera. The geely is more fancy and with a lot of features which are not the most important to a driver.

Emgrand really is the best especially for city driving. But City too is a very great car. We know Honda’s reliability and engine innovation. Maybe next time, you can use binaural mics to test the audio system and maybe rank it? Great review, Sir Caco.

I go with almera when it comes to ac, comfort and fuel efficient. Na drive qna ang Almera from Davao to Manila, sobrang tipid sa gas . Even trip sa Baguio, I don’t have any issues kinaya yun mga uphills na tatlong beses inakyat na tuloy tuloy partida puno ang car ejeje…😅 nasa pag aalaga at driving skills yan, choose the car you feel suits your needs. ❤drive safé!

I would go for Almera. Engine performance and fuel economy are my top considerations in buying a new mid size sedan. This car will be my perfect companion for my daily commute.

I think it would be great if you could add the spare parts availability to future vids. Great review as always!
