I am really enjoying this. My great grandparents lived during the thirties, my grandparents were born then. But I'm doing really well on it. I went to school in a high school that was built as one of those New Deal projects. It was lovely and built out of local stone by local labor. The modern addition looks like an eyesore in comparison though.
I'm terrible at keeping score but somewhere around 15 wrong. Not bad.

There are several unambiguously wrong answers in this quiz (for example, Steinbeck wrote the Grapes of Wrath in 1939, not 1930), but question 96 really annoys me because it should allow TWO correct answers. Ras Tafari BECAME Haile Selassie when he became emperor, so technically Ras Tefari is the one who BECAME emperor since he didn't use the name Selassie before then.. Ras, incidentally, just means prince. In question 99 the Beetle was just a new car model, not a technological innovation. A technological innovation would have been something like power steering or an eight cylinder engine. There was nothing technologically novel about the VW Beetle. It was just cheap, that's all.
