Arteta getting Odegaard will go down in history as one of the masterstrokes of Arteta’s entire managerial career.

Many Arsenal fans see Saka as their best player, but from the perspective of an non-Arsenal fan, Ødegaard to me always seems to be the key piece in the team.

Mental toughness—that's his hallmark. His ability to demonstrate incredible mental resilience is unparalleled. Beyond that, his adaptability stands out; whether adjusting to a new club, taking on a different position, or embracing a new role, he does so effortlessly and swiftly.

But it’s not just his skill set that sets him apart; it's his character. He remains humble and approachable, always the first to uplift his teammates. His dedication to his responsibilities at every club he's been part of is unwavering. He motivates not just his teammates but also the fans and even the players from rival teams, especially in the moments following a victory.

While his talent is undeniable, it is these remarkable traits—his resilience, adaptability, humility, and commitment—that have truly propelled him to this level of excellence.

Well done on capturing the essence of our captain so perfectly with this fantastic content! Tusen takk (Thank you very much in Norwegian's language)

I’m sick of the “lazy” Özil narrative. He often clocked up the further distance ran in games.

Is going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck? No not really, but he absolutely was world class.

But it will be difficult to top Dennis in my eye's 😅

In 2024, it’s great to see that Martin Odegaard is realizing his full potential. He was seen by many people as a Real Madrid reject someone who wasn’t good enough for their first team and he did have good loan spells elsewhere, but was never able to truly settle at a club and now after a couple of excellent seasons at Arsenal where he’s led the team from the front as he’s their captain, he’s now one of the best midfielders in the world and I can even make an argument that he’ll be the best midfielder in the premier league when Kevin de Bruyne leaves Manchester City and that’s just how good he is. When he first joined Arsenal, at the time it was on a loan and they were a dysfunctional team and Mikel Arteta was still very early in his project and he has been key to helping them become a proper team again as in back to back seasons, they were in contention for the league title and while they didn’t win it, it shouldn’t take anything away from Odegaard individually in a sense that his performances were incredibly consistent and despite being a midfielder, he has added goals to his game (2022-23 season: 15 goals and 7 assists, 2023-24: 11 goals and 11 assists) and has a great range of shooting.

Odegaard is a sublime footballer. He has an excellent touch amazing technical ability, very good footwork, he creates a lot of chances at an elite rate and his passes are on another level as well. He’s someone who has a silky skillset and can also produce phenomenal passes out of nothing. He’s one of those players where you have to watch him and be mesmerized with what he does on the pitch. His profile as a player is similar to Mesut Ozil, the difference is that he tracks back without the ball. It’s true that in recent years from a tactical perspective, the number 10 role as a whole doesn’t exist in football anymore, that position hasn’t disappeared, I think players have evolved their game and someone like Odegaard has proven that he can be a playmaker at the highest level while also suiting the role and what the manager wants from him. He’s had such an amazing impact on Arsenal and as they continue to challenge for trophies, he’s going to get even more recognition for his brilliance since with every passing season he is adding something to his game and is a better player now than he was when he initially joined the club.

Gr8 video. Yeah, Odegaard is Arteta's embodiment on the pitch. It speaks to Arteta's skills in studying ppl's character that he immediately saw captain qualities in Odegaard. It was abit of a gamble for someone so young to lead a massive club like Arsenal but in hindsight, it was a masterstroke. Odegaard commands the respect of all his teammates cos he leads by example & never hides. Can't wait to see his partnership with Merino who he payed with in Sociedad.

Ozil was a genius no doubt, but Odegaard is already a better player, his dedication, consistency, effort and team ethics are vastly superior regardless of technical ability, creativity, vision etc. .I have been a fan for over fifty years now and have had the privilege of witnessing some true greats come and go, Odegaard is already destined to be considered among them and could genuinely walk into any team in the world.Real Madrid will be kicking themselves now😊

I love Odegaard & he truly is the most important piece to this current Arsenal generation. However, none of this exists without the clubs purchase of Ozil in 2013.

Mesut was the first big purchase Wenger made in the post Highbury era & he awakened the fanbase from 7-8 year sleep. Yes, at times he left us wanting, but that first year in 13/14 he reminded us Gooners what beautiful football under Arsene Wenger was like. Ask any real Arsenal fan for their top 5 goals since 2000 and the goal against Norwich in October 2013 makes their list. He was a magician on and off the ball. His touch was the definition of class. Pure elegance.

Ozil’s biggest issue wasn’t his work rate or his inability to track back. No, instead it was that of xenophobia. To Arsenal fans he wasn’t English and to Germany fans he wasn’t pure German. He was just labeled as lazy or indifferent so the respective fan bases didn’t look racist.

What is it with both Odegaard and Ozil being brought from Real Madrid and having the same initials? I know this is a coincidence

Don’t think he’s up there with Özil in terms of creativity and chances creative as a passing hub but I’d tell you he’s better as a work horse 🐎 pressing game. A lot of energy. Don’t think he’s similar with Özil . I’m glad Martin was able to modernize his position where playing as #10 is not welcome without putting a work shift running and gunning in the press game.

Ødegaard is in the company of Bergkamp, Fabregas, Carzola, Ramsey & Ozil with some of the most creative and influential players we've seen at the club but does more than some of those.
