Thanks Randy for another great video. It is good to see you up and about again. Happy St. Patties day to you as well. Looks interesting for a soldering practice project. I am looking forward to the warming up so I can get out in my work shop to do some cutting for a project I am hoping to do soon for a pretty awesome music spectrum analyzer build. Good to see you tinkering around Randy and look forward to more. ...by the way - that last project you couldn't remember - (I am whispering) - The dim-able desk lamp... ;)

I built this kit this afternoon. It works great for 3 minutes and then cuts out with an oscillation noise with no audio. Any advice will be much appreciated. This is second attempt, first radio was as dead as a door nail. I have good solder skills. Thanks in advance.

I ordered a new one and assembled it, and it worked this time. However, one thing that is disappointing is that one of the letters on the LED display is displayed as 'A' instead of '8'. I think this is not a problem with the soldering, but rather with the LED panel.

Thank you for instructions. Now it's more clear. Unfortunately, looks like I burned FM chip, when I tried to solder it. It's the most difficult part, because it doesn't have legs, but pads instead.

Maybe I will able to build this radio next time. I'm going to buy next kit.

Have you checked the amp draw with headphones? I've done 2 other kits that have battery options and when you plug in the headphones it makes the speaker volume max (it seems ) and then muted it and outputs to headphones. One I was getting .7amp draw with headphones. Bad design.
I haven't built this one yet but I was curious.
I'm hoping since this one just uses AA it doesn't do that but my other ones use 18650 or 14500 lithium cell and would totally kill the battery in an hour or two using headphones

Hey Randy, I was just wondering if everything is ok. Haven't heard from you in a while. Was looking forward to more videos. Hope everything is ok, and you had a great Thanksgiving.

Thank you, I have soldering skills and make my one, all works (adjust, volume and frequency) but display does not work at at- not a single sigit. Would you be able to let know please which connection could be affected?. I doubt display part is faulty- there is not even a single part of display that work. the small chip I checked and touch again with solder to make sure it is connected. Otherwise is simply board- I make more complex one in past with no itssues. Thank you.
Edit- I re-touch with solder all the big chip on top and resistors to make sure the solder is there too (that leaks from back on top fully) and it works althought there was no cold solder before. All works no problem now. Your instruction on testing components very good

Hello! I assembled the constructor and the red LED is on, the frequency is shown on the display, but there is no sound at all in either the speaker or the headphones. If you press the auto channel search, then the display shows 4 dashes until you turn off the power. The soldering is visually good everywhere. Please help.

I finished assembling it, and there are no shorts when I look at it visually, but when I checked it with a meter, there are shorts between ground and VCC. What could be the problem? When I connect the battery, it gets hot.

Couldn’t make it through this! Too much yak yak, disorganized, and overly long.

My 74HC595D chip had absolutely no identifying way to orient it. No U cut out at the end and the printing on it was totally illegible as to be non existent. Carefully built it but it was 50/50 which way the chip should go and I guess I made the wrong choice. The instructions are absolute garbage as it the kit itself to be honest. You are at the mercy of faulty components as you only get one of each. I checked for wiring and soldering shorts before powering on but as soon as I fitted the batteries the battery leads got hot. Didn't matter if the power switch was on or off it still dead shorted. I've built many other kits but in my experience the success rate it 50/50 which makes it pointless buying them and the sheer frustration the 'instructions' 😂 cause.
