Hey there dungeon crawl fans, it's the one you've been waiting for! What does the game actually play like??!? Well, I do go into the weeds with some rules here so it's a mix of instructional and gameplay for this first episode.

I plan to do at least a few more turns in future gameplay vids for Altar Quest, at a faster pace.

Please enjoy! Please comment if you have any questions or see any corrections I need to make. Thanks so much!

42:51 the Quest setup card will go to the right of the Quest draw pile leaving a little room for your discard pile, then the altar card, then the drawn features and Quest cards. Basically as each card is set out during setup and during the gameplay.

Thank you for the rules explanation! I'm sure I'm going to miss little things here and there the first couple playthroughs. Here's to hoping the more videos I watch the less mistakes I'll make! Also you have a great voice for narrative parts of the game (reading flavor text)

The door minis aren't meant to be added in advance. They are placed on the door to show which ones are open.

Also, you mentioned that when the threat deck is empty, you draw lurker cards. It's actually if there are no cards in the threat deck and discard. The threat deck would get shuffled and you would almost never draw a lurker due to the threat deck. It would only really happen if you somehow had ever threat card out in play (currently pretty impossible).

One thing about the bases: each enemy card has a color in that little space in the middle. That makes it easier to identify which enemy is which, so you can place damage tokens and such on the cards instead of on the board near the minis. I found it to be quite useful.

37:58 don’t forget to grab another focus. You will also grab a threat token due to taking damage from the minion (see threat setup card). SO MANY things to remember in this game!!

30:37 you can exhaust a card without using the top ability first and STILL continue to use the top abilities during the turn. You just can’t exhaust again.

With the Frox, every time the Minions Inflict, they give the character a threat token. Myreen should have gained 2 threat tokens (36:04) and (37:58) from the Frox Raider's two Inflicts. Fortunately, the damage from Bolx is not generated by a Minion card so it does not result in more Threat. The effect of Frox Threat is that any healing must first be used to remove Threat tokens (and the Froxling Swarm gets worse if characters have accumulated Threat).

You forgot to do the Activate for the Altar card during the Quest phase. This should be done before Activating any Features.

45:55 forgot to activate the altar card (cause it’s not to the right of the setup card 😬). Much easier to track if the cards read like a book, from left to right in a line. Trust me you’re gonna have a long line in the Quest area before this is through.

The blood drop is actually a water drop but you can call it a blood drop. I like that better😁

Question guys! When you reveal a room, if the threat deck is empty, do you skip drawing a threat each or switch to the lurker deck for this reveal step? Thanks!
