The Japanese Yen Is Failing (what this means for the world)

Japan's government conducted three (unconfirmed) major currency interventions in less than a week. Already JPY is falling almost like they never happened. It's the dollar that's the matter because what's the matter isn't just Japan and like a lot of things energy is the key. As the Japanese understand all too well, energy means dollars.

Japan's crazy monetary policy is finally catching up to them. QE infinity finally came at the cost of the value of their currency. I will give it to them though, it took A LOT longer than anyone would have guessed.

Following the Fed and Treasury, the economic statistics in Japan have all been “massaged” for the last 30-40 years where the statistic analyses have no correlation with the real economy. In spite real wages tanking, exports going nowhere, the Nikkei 225 is hovering at historical record highs for no reason. Everyone states that a weak yen is good for corporate earnings, but those corporate overseas profits are not repatriated so that is nothing good about the results, except on paper.

In light of the ongoing global economic crisis, it is crucial for everyone to prioritize investing in diverse sources of income that are not reliant on the government. This includes exploring opportunities in stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the challenging economic situation, it remains a favorable time to consider these investments.

After 2011 Japan started importing oil to generate electricity.

Once you factor that in, it's insane.

The recent stock market downturn in China and Japan is sparking widespread panic and economic upheaval. It's astonishing! Reports indicate that the government had to step in with a massive 2 trillion yuan bailout program to restore stability.

With the huge Trade Surplus in USD that Japan has been building, What do they care about Eurodollar providers?

Appropriately 1982, the ratio was ~ 200 yen / 1 US$. Reagan pushed hard to bring it down closer to 100 yen / US$, which actually made the US economy worse. It had no significant effect on the trade deficit.

It is actually impressive that the Japanese economy is holding up as well as it has, between loosing the production of so many things to China/ Taiwan/ Korea, a nuclear disaster, supply chain challenges, etc.

Eventually, Japan will be forced to convert the economy to one of the 5 or 10 major currencies of the world, just like everyone else.

Like, your kind of missing the important point today. It's not the intervention/jawboning by Japanese central bankers, but the intervention by the U.S. Dept. of the Treasury.

Why not stop giving us the same 3 charts over and over again (along with the same idiosyncratic history lesson) and pay attention to what is actually going on? Is it because your models actually have zero explanatory or prefictive power?

Due to the unavoidable Japanese decision, we will likely see interest rates of 18% and higher here in the US by mid next year.
