Balboa is an 8 count dance. All basic patterns are 8 counts (toss outs, down-hold and up-hold basics, ad-lib steps). That's not to say you can't have four, six, and ten count patterns to play within a phrase of music, but at the most fundamental level, it's an 8 count dance like Lindy Hop.

Such a fun, old school dance. Seamlessly done!

@matthew:
Balboa is an 8-count dance.
You can see at the beginning when they're doing the basic, that they're traveling forward and backward for 4 counts each. This song is very fast so I can understand it's hard to tell!

This is BALBOA SWING. It is fast and improv. Works well with dixie Gatsby music!

Want to learn this one. I think it was the dance of West coast dance marathons

@JahariAluvis Also, good job on Kate's part using a hitch instead of a rock-step.

Technically, Balboa is a 2 count dance, but arranging those 2's into patterns of 8 is most common.
