Hi, I have just serviced my transmission, now I'm pretty sure when I put the filter back in, it didn't have the longer bit where the oil is picked up from... the filter was the recommended one, I also am convinced since doing the service the transmission is now flaring when changing into 3rd.
It feels worse now than before the service and I'm pretty sure I had no problems, just needed a service as I just baught it and wanted peace of mind. Glad I did as the oil was not in good condition.
Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey mate love the vid.

My re4 won’t go into 3rd and 4th. 1st to 2nd shift is fine. I’ve replaced the trans 3 times and the TCU as well all doing the same thing never going into 3rd and fourth.

Any idea what this could be?

I cooked the first trans but the guys who put the second hand transmissions in didn’t clean the lines. Let’s say that’s the issue for it cooking the trans surely it should have gotten into 3/4 at some stage of any of them?

hi, what is the difference between a long and a short snorkel? I bought an original Nissan filter and it has a short one. but when I removed the oil pan from my Nissan patrol on the car I have a long one like the one in the video. can they be used? well thank you

Awesome stuff!
Any ideas why drive doesn’t engage straight away? Can take a good 30 seconds when cold.
Originally though solenoids but it doesn’t really have a problem shifting

Really good video thanks for sharing your knowledge, one of my kids has just bought a 1989 r31 skyline auto and although I’m going on 50 I’ve never owned an auto before, can I ask how often do you reckon I do filter? And as I’d probably just drop pan and replace what fluid I get out (don’t have a pump) is it ok to replace with Penrite rather than the Nissan fluid? Thanks again great video

Hey mate, would you know the details on the plug location or locations for this transmission? Mines malfcuntioning since going througha bog hole, and all the info i can find online suggests an 8 pin plug for the solenoids into the transmission. However, im not sure where to look for it, cause i feel like perhaps mine has the 8 wires separated across multiple plugs? Any information you could provide would be very much appreciated

Hey mate, how did you get the 12 litres out?
When you said you pumped out the fluid, did you remove the cooler lines and start her up to empty the torque converter
Or did you just drop the pan remove filter and replace only the fluid that you caught

I just wanted to do it myself but I can only drain about 3 liters of oil (the rest wont come out) do you know whats the problem? I only unscrewed the drain plug. Thx very much for the help :)

could you fill it up with fresh oil then drop it again to try get the oil as fresh as possible ?

I have an re4r01a box and it has an identical filter, except the pickup is 45mm deep compared to the 20mm or so deep in this video. Do you have any idea what the part number is for for my filter? I have spent hours in auto shops and no one can find the correct filter. It is from a 2000 model Mazda rx7, but everyone's part number shows the filter which has no pickup like the one you compared yours to in the video.
