She’s not the only trans in jail. They have to pick one and picking the one for their assigned gender at birth is most appropriate. If a Female to Male trans gets arrested, which jail should they be in? They identify as male but going to a male jail could “kill them” too

She wasn’t in prison. She was in jail momentarily. She’s also transgender, it does not take away the fact that she was born male and should not be kept with women prisoners out of respect for their safety and privacy as well. She could have been kept in isolation if Nikita’s safety was a concern. The solution is not to start putting trans women or people who identify as female but are not born female in female prisons, women should be thought of as well.
