Lesson Learned from Development AI for Smart Perception Sensors

The NextPerception project brings players from 3 different domains, healthcare, wellbeing and automotive domains together with the common activity of human monitoring. The goal is to understand human behaviour and provide desired predictive and supportive functionality in the contexts of interest, while preserving users’ privacy.

The project developed smart sensors embedded with intelligence and facilities for communicating and synchronising with other sensors. Embedding intelligence in the sensors is a first step solving challenges in reliable and secure operation and avoiding data-communication bottlenecks. Our Lesson Learned provides an overview of the applications and challenges of using AI in sensor systems. We show solutions and implementation strategies and give an outlook on the current project, called DistriMuSe.
