We took a very similar approach to our day in Florence, but:

- visited Santa Croce to visit the graves of Italy’s heroes

- walked around the city and grabbed lunch

- at 1 pm visited the Galleria degli Uffizi to escape from the heat. The pictures are amazing, but that ceiling….

For non meat eaters, Toscan Pici in Tomato and Aligone sauce is amazing!

I do wish we had more time to visit the market though! Two to three days in Florence would be ideal.
