PG&E price gouges us as they announce record profits for 2023 by raking in $2.2 billion. How is this legal since we can't choose who supplies our utilities?

For 10 years people have been screaming to bury the lines in the mountains. But now they find out the customers will pay for it and they are changing their tune. Also people living in high fire zones in the mountains refuse to pay more for fire protection and for fire proofing their homes. If people refuse to pay their share of the increased expense they should not get taxpayer subsidized bail out.

Gavin Newsom's campaign raised $270, 000 from PG&E. When PGE does upgrades, they get a cut and keep the profits. The bigger the project PGE does, the bigger the profit they get. "Last week tonight" has covered the topic on UTILITIES.

I don't want to hear "they want to increase rates 26%" I want to hear "They are charge more per kWh than any place else in the country for areas that have a really low electrical nanny-tax er I mean 'baseline rate'" I live in San Francisco "oh you shouldn't have to use that much electricity so we'll make your baseline really low and if you use more than that you're going to get slapped with higher rates". The reality is they shouldn't be using arguments of conservation as the reason for the pricing tiers, they're a for profit company they couldn't care less about the environment unless it ends up costing them more money.

Feels like unlawful price gouging to me. How about they stop bonuses and learn to pay for their mistakes that caused so many fires. Can tax payers demand to see their budget? How about repairs made and upcoming improvements that prevent fires?
