What makes it so touching isn’t the fact that Luigi loves his bro so much that he will sacrifice himself, it’s Mario’s reaction. All the other times Mario only cared about Luigi for a stupid reason, this time, he’s genuinely heartbroken that Luigi was gonna do it.
