Dear Gary, Thanks loads for your feedback - it's really pleasing to know i have helped you. Do tune in for A-Level and let family, friends. school know. Sorry I haven't done every paper. I'm a full time teacher and do these vids late at night so can't always do everything people need but just hope what is up here is helpful enough. Best regards. Mr H - p.s. do let me know how you get on!

You're probably my favourite GCSE Maths channel. The others have bad quality, low audio volume or poor enunciation of words.

Oh my God, it is SO EASY NOW!! Friggin hell you have absolutely no idea how confusing teachers made this whenever this was taught. Now it is SO SIMPLE! God, Mr. Hegarty, you are awesome! May Al Khwarismi (founder of algebra) bless you!

Triple first. Double second to get

15x+6y = 33
8x - 6y = 36

Add eqns to get

23x = 69 (divide by 23)
x = 3 Sub back in to above to get 5(3) + 5y = 11 so 2y = -4 y =-2

2x+4y = 1
3x - 5y =7
Triple first, double second
6x+12y=3
6x-10y=14
Eqn (1) subtract eqn (2) careful with the minus minus
22y = -11
y=-0.5
Sub back in very first eqn to get 2x-2 = 1 so x=3/2 = 1.5

X top by 3, bottom by 2 to get

15x+6y=33
8x-6y=36

Add eqns
33x=69
X=13/11 then sub back to get y

Keshika - of course I remember you! All of this is perfect apart from the very last line! If 3x=6 then x = 2 right? (not 3) Best wishes Mr H

I love your videos and they've helped a lot, the only issue I have is that you don't discuss x squared, y squared or both in a simultaneous equation, surely AQA present this in their exams?

ignore that bit - it should have been cut out of videos

mistake @ 17:00 where y and x are equal to 1. x is equal to 0.5, and y is equal to 1.
