Kolkata Rape-Murder Horror Quakes India, Sparks National Revolt Against Rape | Democratic Newsroom

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee started her protest march against the Kolkata rape-murder case on Friday afternoon. The Trinamool Congress workers accompanying her raised slogans, demanding the death penalty for the accused. The party demanded that the CBI should end the probe in the next 48 hours and arrest all accused.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which took over the probe of Kolkata's trainee doctor's rape and murder case, has arrived at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital as part of its investigation. Earlier today, the CBI team submitted a copy of its FIR before the Calcutta High Court.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police have arrested 24 people for vandalism at the hospital during the nationwide 'Reclaim the Night' protest. According to the police, a group of 40 to 50 people, under the garb of demonstrations, broke into the hospital premises late on Wednesday night and vandalised property.

I find Nalini's "its an issue of legislative enforcement" VERY misleading .a) Hospitals, schools,colleges,universities can spend lakhs on anything but they will not spend on hiring 10 armed, strong,fit security staff per institution .Our police is massivelyunderstaffed and overworked .We need lakhs of women officers to b recruited .
Lakhs of jobs can be created here and it will serve women's safety b) Women need to get gun licences, free self defence classes .We need a US like 2nd amendment right.
