Hi Steven! I practiced yoga for about 15 years. I set up a little corner of my basement with yoga books, cd's, mats, candles, and a huge wall decal with the om symbol which said " I bow to the divine in you". I also bought a few New Age books which I thought would help me grow spiritually. As a special needs teacher, I even taught yoga to girls in my school during lunch. I am a Christian from birth and never thought that this would have any impact on my faith but it did. I suffered from sporadic sleep paralysis which always scared me and I used to think that there was something wrong with me and it worried me for many years. I also would wake up from my sleep gasping and "see" a shadow looking over me and I would get terribly scared. This happened for many years and I never knew what it meant. I don't know what sparked my curiosity of looking up what yoga really is, but I did last year and came across your first post when you were saved. I've also been watching many videos on the subject and people converting from New Age to Jesus. I sat on the fence about it for many months wondering what to do, reasoning to myself that it's all about intent. However, I could feel God pulling me back to Him, so I decided to finally quit yoga. I got rid of the wall decal, the books, and everything yoga and New Age. The sleep paralysis stopped and so did the shadows. I bought my own beautiful Bible which I now read with a thirst for God's Word and my faith has grown stronger. Thank you and God Bless you for being a light in the world...

I find it odd that Americans are obsessed with yoga. I'm from South India and I'm a Christian who's a born again believer. We never talk about yoga or mediation, because our forefathers were Hindus who converted to Christianity and left the Hindu practices behind them! It's so dangerous to bring these practices into your homes and churches because they are the gateway for Satan to enter into your mind and your home! Everyone who's lived in India and is a follower of Jesus Christ, and a born again believer knows this!

I was delivered from New Age (including yoga and meditation) - so many of my friends and family are hateful and saying I am brainwashed. But I’m free! Who the son sets free is free indeed and Jesus is Lord!!

This is absolutely terrifying. I was invited to join a couple of yoga classes over the years and there was always something else that would pop up during those dates that would prevent me from attending. Thank the good Lord.

I am Yoga Alliance certified myself and immediately left it behind when Jesus saved me. Cannot serve 2 masters! No such thing as Christian yoga. Rather the yoke of Christ 🙌

I think its fair to mention that self help literature can be a gateway to new age. Believing it can heal and fill the hole in the soul, when in truth only Jesus can do that.

I feel the same way about Rock and Roll... Being a musician for over half of my life, I got to learn all of the dark secrets of it's underbelly. I had to completely give it up because whenever I tried to return to it, it would bring back all of those old thoughts and feelings I had before I was saved. Giving up my dream to be a successful musician was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I grew up christian, but never fully read the bible. I fooled around with astrology and that led me to learning about the 3rd eye and kundalini. I was pretty successful with getting the attention of demons and successful with opening my 3rd eye.

And once I had a dream, when I was practicing opening my 3rd eye, about a gigantic serpent who was sleeping under a mountain. I mentally was going through tunnels until I saw the serpents face, and he woke up. The ground began to shake and he burst forth from the mountain and hurled balls of fire down to the inhabitants in the valley. His body almost seemed like it was spilling from the mountain, like he had multiple bodies but one head and leveled the mountain it seemed like.

Repenting and turning from all of that crap was the best thing I ever did for myself. Grabbed my bible and started to drink it up like I hadn't had a drop in a thousand years.

Presently in Bali, where I became a born again Christian 25 years ago (Bali is a Hindu island, in the biggest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia... God has a great sense of humour!).
Although I love my sisters here, I have stopped attending church. The teaching is not sound, and they’re ALL doing yoga, including the American pastor.
I warned them so many times, but instead of heeding the warnings, they ostracised me for speaking the truth.
Last time I went to bible study, we sat in little groups of 5, and everyone in my group was doing yoga. I was telling them of the dangers, when the pastor’s wife stood beside me and said how much she yoga!
I felt like telling her “get thee behind me, satan”! I was so mad at her for leading my sisters astray....

I have been a Christian for many years. About 3 years ago or so I was in a great deal of pain and went to yoga classes (the stretching kind). It helped me a great deal BUT The whole time I was in those classes I was conscious that God was not pleased. I finally stopped going and only took Pilates classes instead. I tried the whole repeat Jesus Name a lot and focus on a passage of scripture the whole time not even realizing the kind of evil I was submitting myself to. I am Listening to this program and now all can do is sit here and ask for forgiveness of even being in and participating with these Yoga instructors. Thank you for opening my eyes to my need to repent of this specific thing.
