Shanachie Dancers | Sony A7III + Tamron 28-75

The Shanachie Dancers are a group of talented New Brunswick Scottish dancers sharing stories through movement.

Filmed on the Sony A7III with the Tamron 28-75 lens. Some of the indoor dance scenes were filmed with the Tamron 17-28. I used a gimbal for every shot - the Ronin SC. The HLG picture profile was also used.

Big lesson I learned with this project: don't trust your external monitor for following movement! There is a slight delay on the monitor while the gimbal is trying to respond to real-time movement. This resulted in me always having to harshly adjust the gimbal to keep my subject in frame which broke up a lot of my shots. I tossed the monitor after this shoot 🤓

My favorite shots are at the Government House location in the beginning. I desaturated the greens, boosted the saturation in the yellows, and altered the blue hues slightly. The result is a semi-surreal look.
