You must understand.. over 99% of riders never ride a track day and over 99% of riders can’t use the power of a super sport on the road. The 8R is a real world bike for honest riders who, with enough skill, can keep up with super sports on the backroads.

This bike is absolutely targeted towards what I want: a comfy, torquey machine that has looks that can kill. I love sport bikes but I never do track, so this fits me perfectly. The TFT dash is also wonderful. 💜

Its a practical sports tourer.. The guy just spoke track, track, track all the way!

It's an honest sport bike. If the buyer us honest with them selves, it will be a really good bike for them.

I think manufacturers are giving us a better line between super sport bikes and sport bikes. This is probably a great sport bike without it being a race bike for the street.

Honestly for daily riders it's a much better layout for middleweight bikes. More practicality and comfort isn't a bad thing. And holy hell it's a great looking bike.

I bought this bike and I aboslutely love it. It's a really friendly and fun ride with lots of power to play with on the streets. You get to use all your gears when on the highway or on twisty roads.

Suzuki.... Please bring back the GSXR750. Legend of a bike.

Dear Suzuki, can you please make a 300-400cc variant of this bike? There is a gap between your 125cc section through to your SV-650. Some of us don't want a 125 or as large as a 650-750 bike. Come on Suzuki, make it, money stands by.

People keep lamenting the demise of supersports, but not enough people bought them, so it isn't cost effective for the manufacturers to make them for all markets. People do buy bikes like these, so they are in fact giving people what they want. And I would argue this is a track bike, just like an SV650 is a track bike, in fact a great track bike, and I think this one will be also.

I'd add the throw over Suzuki saddle bags and smoked touring windscreen. Add a slip on exhaust (when you can get one and you know the aftermarket will show up big for this bike) and a K&N air filter. A perfect sports touring bike you could comfortably ride across the country.

Pretty sure most people want to ride a sportbike on the street and want it to be reasonably comfortable when not ridden hard, not worried so much about it's track limitations.
Hardcore riders as you may be, you did well to try and analyze it's talents away from the track so no quarrels there, looking forward to your comparison test.
Where I live it costs the same as a CBR650R, inbetween the CBR's price with and without the E-clutch.
That would make for an interesting choice, not gonna complain about having as many choices a s possible.

My first bike was an FZ6R, it was a fun bike, so I believe in this segment. However, a screaming 600 I-4 is pure exhilaration. I am sure plenty of folks will have a great time on this kind of bike, but personally I would not want to go back to this kind of bike. Go ride a GSXR600 for a year, then tell me you prefer a twin. It's not just about which one is faster, the I-4 600 is a special experience because of the high RPM and 'wait for it' power delivery. It's like a high strung 4cyl Honda Civic Si vs a grunty short shifting V6 Honda Accord. I personally like the screamer type engine.

Exhaust, airbox mod new map gets 91 rwhp…

Being 50 lbs heavier and down 20 hp on the RS660 makes it tough to consider.

Great summary. Agree Suzuki should have added adjusters to the suspension and tuned a few more horses out of it. I am not a track rider and prefer the higher bars. My first bike was a CBR500R which I loved. Will definitely ride one when they appear on show rooms. Very cool!

It’s a real shame with no GSXR600 or 750 anymore in the UK I was hoping for a track focused sports bike with a torque pulling twin to put a smile on your face. Seems that is not this bike. Sure will be fantastic as a fun road bike but clearly not going to be grabbing one of these as a track day weapon 😔 thanks for the review much appreciated.

Um ride test com a R7, Z650, CBR650, Touno 660 e Triumpth 660. Isso é que era!!!

Weather we like it or not, this is what it is now? Not sure that's the case. The market will provide us with only what we're willing to purchase. We're in control over that. Not the manufacturers. If they're not making what you want, don't buy it and they'll start making what you want.
