The device has been updated to KaiOS 2.5.4 with support for Verizon and other carriers in the United States. The Nokia 2720 V has amazing battery life, great support for apps, and excellent software in terms of KaiOS. It runs smooth, it has no bloatware, and does not slow down. The fatal flaw in the Nokia 2720 V is with group text messages as with other KaiOS devices, but it is a great update to a beloved device.

Jose, i agree with your assessment of this device. I am 32 years old and have been using "dumb" phones since 2010. Vowing never to switch back to smart again, I made a commitment to stick with my Razr2 V9X from Att. When Att shut off their 3G cell towers this year, I was at a loss. I tried multiple dumb phones with no luck. The NUU F4L flip was horrible, great idea but bad device. Slow laggy and button pushes were awful. I tried the Alcatel Cingular Flip from Att, great idea but horrible device. Same with previous Nokia devices. KaiOs is a great OS if the phones could ever support the OS.

I even bought a Punkt MP02 but didn't really have the snappy response we all were used to back in the early 2000s with feature phones.


I can honestly say, after multiple trials, this Nokia 2720 V Flip is the BEST KaiOs device on the market. They finally got it right. Some of the buttons near the top are a little too touchy - can easily hit the wrong button at times, but the OS runs so smoothly, i have no complaints.

I have a 2720 and i love it ! it can be a bit glitchy occasionally but does everything i need it to, even managed to make my way round a major city today using its bare bones version of google maps : ) edit: I've had mine since December so i have the old (EU) version

happy to see that Nokia is listening to you hopefully, and that they have released a very usable phone with solid KaiOS for the US market, and that will work with most major carriers. personally i would not mind having to write/re-write subject line each time if that is the only real downside to this model, and as you said, perhaps that issue can be solved in the next KiaOS. thanks Jose, great review !

I'd love a phone that functions exactly like a smart phone user experience, but with none of the smart phone humanity-sucking features and addictions.
*High-end camera, picture and video (minus geo locations, facial recognition, all the other Big Brother background trash)
*Smartphone touch screen for typing, texting, internet input
*High quality screen
*A few quality apps: maps navigation, internet browser, photo/video organizer
*A music and podcast library/player
*A contact application that sorts and organizes contacts exactly the same way as a smart phone, but without all the bloated convenience and "smart" stuff attached to them.

That's it. I would never need anything more. Anything I could need from the internet would be accessed through the internet browser and from mobile optimized versions of websites. A ridiculously long battery life, common charging port, headphone jack, Wifi and Bluetooth function (for car or other things), removable/replaceable battery, microSD expandable memory.

Is the above too much to ask? A device with these functions would have been revolutionary in the early 2000's. Now it's considered a dumb device or junk.

Hi Jose. I recently purchased Nokia 2780, but had issues with receiving texts. Verizon states they do not support phone. Is 2720 the next best option for '23-'24? Thx

Not sure if I understand the group text issue completely. Say I receive a group text...will it show normally, like each person in the group? And to respond, I add a subject line, will it respond to the same thread? Also, do my recipients see the "subject" each time I respond?

Hi Jose, here, Holland, 2720 is more expensive than AGM M7, so I am in doubt... it is the same price as Nokia Tough800. I like a sturdy phone but Also a flip. Which one will be better, like, in the long run? I only want a mapp/gps app and Whatsapp. nothing else...
