Pilot Vanishes Among UFO!

In 1978, 20-year-old pilot Frederick Valentich went missing during a training flight over the Bass Strait between Australia and Tasmania. He was flying a light aircraft and had 150 hours of flying experience. On the night of October 21, Valentich reported an unidentified aircraft following him at 4,500 feet, with four bright landing lights and a green light on it. He said it passed 1,000 feet above him, moving at high speed and seemed to be toying with him. He then reported engine trouble before transmission was cut off. The last sound heard was a metallic scraping sound. Search and investigation found nothing, and the case was closed as presumed fatal. However, five years later a part from Valentich's aircraft washed ashore, and it was revealed that he had a strong interest in UFOs and had been rejected from the Air Force. The case has been a topic of conspiracy theories for decades, with UFO sightings reported in the area, but no concrete explanation has been found.
