Real World Scenario Testing using Azure DevOps and automated UI tests | DevOps Lab

In this episode, Abel Wang chats with Deepak Saini and Michael Ma to talk about scenario testing with automated UI tests.

In the context of Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS), Web apps have a very high availability SLA (typically approximately 99.9%). This means the site as a whole rarely goes down, however the availability of one or multiple user scenario in an application may be a different story.

Measuring the availability of complete scenarios by running exhaustive end-to-end UI-based tests can be extremely helpful in real applications. Using tools like Selenium in your Azure DevOps pipeline can give you that extra edge when it comes to real-world availability.

Man, that's so cool. Well done guys, using Azure DevOps pipelines to do work/tests on a production site every 5 to 15 min? And pumping the results to app insights and then a dashboard? Awesome.

How were the tests scheduled in ADO? Did you use scheduled triggers on the release pipeline to perform test execution? If so, did you have to manually create each one at 5 minute intervals by hand?

The reasons and what they have done is clear. The How sadly not :) however, really nice idea.

How to do automatic UI tests was NOT demonstrated. This was only about how to present test results. Disappointing.

You need to improve on communication. Seems like you have diverted from the track from the initial agenda. Super upset.
