This man is the type we need for MPs, from the local area. All we seem to have today are London centric, ex university indoctrinated, or ex legal people who have never had a job in their lives. All MPs should be representative of the local area, and not parachuted in because of their friends or relatives, as in the kinnocks. Will be interesting to see if Eddie Issard, who does not know if he is Arthur or Mather will represent my city.

I'm in no doubt that if the Conservatives are to win the next election, then they need to seek the advice of backbenchers such as Lee Anderson to retain the red wall votes and they need to do it NOW. In fact, a place on the top table would not be a bad idea in my view, having someone from a working class/non University educated background would appeal to so many and on so many levels. Minister for Common Sense, anyone?

The whole furore about feeding people for 30p was clearly overblown by the media. He's absolutely right to argue that cookery (and other life skills) should be integral to the educational curriculum. However, the quality of ingredients matters, especially for the good of the nation's health. Having landed a sucker punch by showing that you can cook on a budget, it is now vital to follow with a knock-out blow: teaching everyone the merits of organic, chemical free cookery - incentivising production of more organic food, making it more affordable, showing people how to get the most out of it especially if their purses won't stretch far. If Lee Anderson were my MP, I would congratulate him for what he has done so far and urge him to put that further message across.
