Interesting in so much as there is the take up for this reaching technology. However, notwithstanding the salient points about the prevalence of the "English" language — be that as it is in Western, mother tongue English speaking nations; the vagaries of regional and international tonalities and accents in English do not seem to my mind to have been given any consideration at all. I would have liked to have heard how the potentially similar problems to facial recognition can be circumvented. So too, it is easy to make comparisons with developments of likewise technology in Japan and in China, but how are LLMs progressing beyond the benchmark of current input in to cutting edge LLMs? I suppose the proof of concept will be in the take up which I cannot think of as a forgone conclusion. If, however, the purpose alone of this technology is to create a degree of efficiency, it can do that. To what degree I cannot envisage. It may well temper the time consuming of mundane activities, but the variety of sound itself is far more infinite and complex than that of images and script. I don't suggest that technology, the vision expressed of it is wanting so much. I just do not see that it will be such a revolution. As said by the guest himself, there will be agendas applied access of it. As for equality per se, the infrastructure required exploit this step, to reap its benefits will be beyond the majority on the planet. Equality in itself cannot or should not be reduced to the accomodating of the disabled alone. As well, we are well into what we refer to as the generation of digital natives. But still, the divide between those who are and are not is very wide. Such are one of the characteristics, dare I say consequences, of a new form of interface for communication, there are trade offs in a societal manner. Hell, the economy voice would have been quicker to Coney my considerations. Point taken.
