Our Globemaster is much more than just a pretty plane. Here are some fun facts about our highly regarded heavy lifter:

✅ It's a hefty 53m long, 16.8m tall, and has a wingspan of 51.75m
✅ It weighs a 128 tonnes empty, with a whopping max take off weight of 265 tonnes
✅ It can carry paratroopers 10,390km
✅ It has the capacity for 134 passengers; 102 paratroopers; six high-dependency medical patients; one CH-47F Chinook helicopter; more than 70 tonnes of cargo
✅ That voice you can hear is the TAWS - it's terrain awareness and warning system - a safety net that automatically provides predictive warnings to the aircrew
✅ It will be back again tomorrow 28 September from around 4.20pm, along with our F/A-18F Super Hornet, to flypast the Riverfire event - see you then! 👋

Please note that all flying is subject to change due to weather, operational requirements, or other aviation considerations.

The obstacle avoidance system was busy.

Don't let that woman get on board next time, all she does is

That's a really cool video, the C-17 is such an awe-inspiring plane, standing next to it, and to see it this low? And with all the terrain warnings? Awesome!

Loved seeing the flypast yesterday - well done to the people of the RAAF - impressive aircraft

So good. I was at the Felons (just under the bridge) on my lunch break when this fly past. Felt like it was coming for you

That was awesome. I saw a C-17 do fighter break over RAAF Darwin last year. I was amazed at the manoeuvrability of this big bird.

I'm so glad the Australians do this. Thanks to these videos, there shouldn't be any need to try it here in the States.

Don't hink I heard the "terrain" warning that much!

Unreal! I can't believe aviation law in Brisbane allows for such big aircraft to fly so low and close to the city centre!

In Canada if this kind of low urban flypast was done, instant court martial!
Their military doesn't even have flare dumps just to save a few dollars..
The capabilities of the raaf truly shows in all its tactical majesty.

Even while their nagging flight computer panics, the pilots stay as cool as cucumbers. Ice water in those veins!

Incredible work! Respect to those pilots - i live along the dividing range south of Ipswhich, F-111's loved our valley for NOE (or, as we locals called it) "sky-dirtbike-riding". Seeing one of those from 400m, on it's side, just after dark, followed by the sound - just in time for the kids to see the wingman. AAF have mad skills!

I got to hang out in a C17 at a Boy Scout even a couple years ago. They said the plane cost like 235 million bucks. It's pretty cool

Awesome! I have seen so many clips of these flybys from mobile phones on the ground ~ it's really something to see the whole sequence from inside the cockpit.
