Howard Marks is great. Everyone should read his book “Mastering the Market Cycle”. One of the best investment books I have ever read.

Did he even answer his own question why there are credit cycles? I mean, why is it that risk sentiment is coordinated amongst investors to create the overall cycle? Why are companies in distress all at the same time?
