The weird thing is that there are hardly any leaks. Usually hardware gets leaked when it's close to production and devs get dev kits. We've had some leaks, but nothing like the detail we usually get for all previous hardware releases from all companies.
Either:
- Leaks are right around the corner.
- The system isn't coming out any time soon.
- Nintendo has implemented new anti-leaking measures to keep the secrets safe.

I’ve suspected for a while that they’ve been holding onto Zelda until the next iteration of the Switch is ready. It makes good business sense to release it on “Switch 2” to push new hardware and on the current switch to reach the larger install base. Nintendo did the same with Twilight Princess (GameCube/Wii) and BoTW (Wii U/Switch).

Most 3rd party games get delayed or don't come out day and date of the other console. There is no indication of new hardware even though you make every little thing about a it, I guess if you say it often enough you will be eventually right. It could happen but I doubt it and normally if there was new hardware you would get the customary factory leak.

@SwitchForce that was exactly same thought after finding out about the delay this morning on another video. It was very odd how the developer mentioned that it would not be coming almost 3 months after previous gen systems. Let see what develops and keep up the good work.

I see the new console coming out with Metroid Prime 4 in 2024 since an announcement would have been made a while ago if a new console was going to be release with the new Zelda. Plus it would explain why it has been delayed almost as much as Duke Nukem Forever.

I don't think they are waiting for the Switch Pro since you can already pre-order for the switch. I don't think they would let you pre-order for a console that isn't even announced yet. That would be a whole lot of refunds to the people not upgrading their hardware just yet.

I think Scarlet and Violet were made for the new switch but didn't have enough time to fix the issues with the current version of switch.

I don’t think so, maybe a special edition OLED or something like that but the system is still selling like crazy. It just doesn’t make sense for them to release a new model. I do think TOTK will bookend the systems life though.

Did anyone really think the Hogwart Legacy Switch version would be released the same time as the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions? Switch versions of big AAA games have always been released months after the Playstation and Xbox versions.
Just because Zach thinks his own facts makes sense doesn't make it truth.

I hope your right about a switch pro maybe coming out soon, I have the first gen switch and am holding out for a more powerful switch to come out, when the oled switch was released, it was tempting, but my switch still does everything the oled does just bigger better screen. I’m waiting for something better!!!

I totally just said this in someone’s stream chat today! The time lined up enough to be a bit suspicious. And not to drop in May and be overshadowed by Zelda TotK makes a lot of sense too.

The next Switch will not be a "Pro" model, but will start a new generation. It may end up being more seamless like the Gameboy to the Gameboy Color, but its going to cut the cord to the OG Switch. So many reasons for that it makes sense for Switch 2 to drop next May. Nintendo starts new console generations every 5-6 years with very few exceptions and Switch will be 6 years old in March. Zelda games are taking around 5 years to develop, if Switch 2 doesn't release in 2023 and instead releases in 2024, the new system wouldn't have a mainline Zelda ready for 3-4 years into its life cycle. Pikmin 4 was announced but no gameplay was shown, even though it will likely be cross gen, they will want to show it off on the new hardware. Mario Kart 8 has had its life extended with the DLC, but there is certainly a Mario Kart 9 in development. A sequel to Mario Odyssey is surely in development and would make sense for that to be ready in 2023 or 2024 at the latest. Nintendo had a tremendous lineup of games for the first 12 months for Switch and they would likely to have a very similar year one launch lineup for their next hardware.

I think Nintendo could pull a left field move here and instead release a home console only system next that is for the hardcore gamers and delivers the extra power necessary to run games at a better framerate and resolution. That way it would not cannibalize sales of the regular switch and could be seen as another option for the Switch family. It would make sense too, considering they already have a switch lite for portable only. Why not do the opposite where its a Switch for to use at home only?

I've said it time and time again but here we go, it is entirely possible that they release a new system. Just because the lifecycle of the switch is another 4 years, doesn't mean that we won't get any different consoles. As we know, the gameboy and DS lifecycles went on for a long time, but other consoles were released as well. We probably will get a switch pro, but that doesn't mean that we won't get another system, many people like me, just want a new system, I know we will get a switch pro so I don't care about rumors like this because at the end of the day, 95% of these "signs" mean nothing, and we already know a console of any type will come out around or at the release of TOTK. This is the 999th "sign"

(btw not sure why some people get so angry and defensive when someone says they want a new console, console fans have been waiting 10 years while handheld players have been waiting 6, it's not like the switch will become useless after it anyways.)

Edit: Zelda has long been a launch/launch window title. It makes incredible business sense to anchor their new console to one of their major evergreen franchises and not waste it like they did by trapping it on an old dying system like they did with Skyward Sword
