I like how dense this tree is. It looks like a massive Christmas tree and would be good for privacy in a backyard.

We bought a house that the previous homeowner had planted a a privacy screen between the neighbor in 2001. The trees were 6 years old when we bought the house and looked great. Fast forward to 2022 and these trees are massive, 60 feet tall 25 feet wide and a mess. Unfortunately they were planted every 4-6 feet and I had no idea what they were and how big they would become, if I knew I would have removed at least half of them of them 10 years ago. Recently I removed all of them (17) and will start over but I won't be using these. Make sure you have a lot of space.

A beautiful tree and commonly planted around temples or sacred sites in japan. It is also a good forest tree.

This tree is loved worldwide and is overall a great tree. Easy to grow and maintain, pretty foliage and offers privacy and green color year round. This tree is the national tree of Japan.

Timber is used for a lot of things, but mainly for furniture and interior paneling.

My neighbor has this tree as a border between our houses, and from personal experience I can say it gets the job done.

An accomadating tree, graceful, stately and handsome; useful as a specimen or for avenues.

This plant grows 2 to 3 feet per year and may be more resistant to leaf blights.

Genus name comes from the Greek krypto meaning to hide and meris meaning a part in reference to the flower parts being hidden. Specific epithet means of Japan.

I used this as a privacy and wind barrier. Good for privacy but terrible for wind because the branches are brittle, break off as much as 3 feet in length, blow all over my and neighbors yard, and tiny needles become imbedded in the grass. Difficult and time consuming to cleanup every year in late winter. They are beautiful but a big nuisance, wouldn't plant again.

In Japan, Japanese cedar is favoured for its light wood and is extensively used in house building.

Plant in a site with good air circulation to avoid blight, but not in an area with high winds

It’s crazy how these trees can grow up to 100 feet in our backyards

I want one so bad, it’s really hard to find unique heat and humidity tolerant conifers for the east coast, I’m in zone 6 and think this plant would do great

This plant can tolerate salt in its soils, making it great for phytoremediation and areas of ice salt runoff.
