This was a great three-hour concert!

In this interval, handclapping by the flautist and violinist supplements the percussion.

Mohan Rangan Govindaraj is an accomplished Carnatic flautist whose memorable concert last year inaugurated the Sangati Center's current incarnation. Mohan Rangan was inspired to learn flute from his father Sri H. D. Govindaraj, whom he lost early in his life. His memory motivated Mohan Rangan to develop his father's hobby - playing the flute. Mohan started his flute career under the tutelage of Vidwan S.A. Sashidhar at Vijaya College of Music, Bangalore, and continued to learn advanced music under the guidance of Sangeetha Kalarathna Prof. H.V. Krishnamurthy. He and his brother form a class-act flute duet, and perform at esteemed sabhas in Chennai, Bangalore, and the Bay Area - their recent performance for South India Fine Arts (SIFA) and also Mohan's solo performance at the SF Asian Art Museum's Samsung Hall were both received beautifully by listeners.
