Great group of finds. The Celtic coins with CVN are often attributed to King Cunobeline (c10 to 42 AD), the King Cymbeline of Shakespeare, Even if it is a contemporary counterfeit, it is still a great relic of a famous king. Some people apparently believe the the name Cumobeline is actually a title rather than a name, meaning War Chief. Great cannon ball, too.

I believe that hole in the canon ball would have been packed with gunpowder and shot and a fuse inserted so the canon ball would explode when the fuse, which would be ignited by the cannon blast, burned down to it. The length of the fuse could be used to get it to explode at the right time.

Awesome finds! I believe they would have put the gunpowder inside the canon ball - hence the hole. Glad you're feeling better. Love as ever to see the furballs 🙂😻🐶
