President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to shelve a planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protest slated for next month.

Information Minister Mohammed Idris, who briefed selected State House correspondents after a meeting with the President on Tuesday, said Tinubu urged the organisers of the protest to shelve the plan and await the President’s response to their complaints.

“The issue of the planned protest, Mr President does not see any need for that. He’s asked them to shelve that plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas,” the minister said.

The protest against economic hardship, which is gaining traction on social media, has been scheduled to be held across all states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in August.

Prices of food and basic commodities have gone through the roof in the last months, as Nigerians battle one of the country’s worst inflation and economic crisis sparked by the government’s twin policies of petrol subsidy removal and unification of forex windows.

Tinubu, who vigorously asked for people to protest in Jonathan's government, is begging Nigerians not protest is laughable and ridiculous.
Tinubu is a failure, the worst nightmare 😢😢😢😢

Nigerians unite. Let our only tribe be unity. United we stand and divided we fall. Kenya that has multiple tribes did it, why should ours be different?. Nigerians, come out and say a vehement "NO" to oppression.

Tinubu should go ahead with his intervention and we would go ahead and protest

The minimum wage is not a living wage in Nigeria.

Sharing of rice, grain and students loan is not an intervention for the youth to stop protest. The government should ensure minimal price of food items in the market cut down the cost on education tuition fee, cut down the cost on taxies and other cost of running government it's what we want.

Saying Mr President does not see any need for the protest is an unkind language.

Fuel subsidy is not our only problem.
Nigerians are hungry
Businesses are either struggling or dying
Investors are fleeing the country
Violence and crime are on the increase
The government has failed
Continuous increase in prices of commodities
The list is endless
This is not "END SARS" because if we run away from the protest back to our homes, our pots are still empty at home o

This protest most hold, no one is afraid to die anymore moreover, the killings is undergoing in disguise. Hungers, bad roads, insecurities, joblessness, hardship, lawlessness, intimidations etc. It is better we clear these things off road for younger ones coming and make this country a better place even in our own time. End this hardship now or never.
