Why Turo, the 'Airbnb for Cars', Is Angering Rental Companies | WSJ

Turo lets individuals rent their personal vehicles. Some “hosts” are building businesses at airports that major car rental companies slam as unfair competition. WSJ’s Jason Bellini reports.

Rental companies are a joke, they charged me $300 for a 3 day rental including insurance and they won't let me rent a minivan or anything because I'm under 25.


I used turo for a big group trip for 4 days and rented a minivan with insurance for 150 bucks

as a host on Turo i can tell you Turo has learned from the health insurance industry about how to handle claims, deny deny deny. Any damage that happens to your vehicle regardless of fault is denied by their claims department. I'm currently in litigation with Turo in Massachusetts over 2 denied damage claims.

Rental car companies don’t adapt well. This guy rented a car quickly through Turo. When I go to rent a car at an airport with a traditional car rental company, there’s usually a long line.
