Thanks for this video, I just bought a 2021 F350 and I haven't had a truck with manual hubs since around 1996, I needed a little refresher!

Good info on the hubs for the vacuum lock trucks. Most people don’t understand that system, but last year in a snow storm my 21 F350 would not lock twice. I had the manually lock them. Has worked ever since. For the transfer cases in the Fords they are either manual stick shift or electronic mechanical shifters. Same process, one the motor does it and the other you do it. In either case you have to let off the gas pedal and straighten steering wheel if possible. At that point I have no issues shifting up to 50 mph. Just use common sense. My 03 SD was the best shifting truck ever. My 01 wasn’t bad. My dads old 96 is a pain! Thanks for sharing!

You are a working man and I once was, but know I do enjoy your videos, because you are to the point, some videos are people just talking about what ever, they make me feel like they are trying to con a person in to believing them, just do it and i got it, be careful and take care of your health, I love watching "

Hi, it's Michael Feds ! The only thing is once you lock your hubs you will always stay in lock ( Hubs )
when you unlock your hubs you must go in reverse to fully unlock them. I know at some point you will go in reverse.
I really enjoy your videos so keep bringing them ! Happy New Year

You are like the Canadian version of Andrew Camarata, another great channel here. I remember following him when he was only around 10k subs, and now hes almost at half a million! You have the same mindset i look forward to seeing more of your stuff thanks for sharing

alot of very nice equipment, out exposed to the elements, for a do something guy like you, would build a conex container shelter, 40 by 60 or so. Inexpensive, last forever. Good content so for, keep it up.

Thanks for the clarification on the f250 4x4 I’ve had GM products my whole life and recently purchased a 22 f250 with the 7.3, the one thing I felt disappointed about was thinking I had to get out of the truck in the mud to lock hubs to have 4x4 when I needed it.

I had a 79 f150 that I hauled a580b case backhoe around here with. It had 350 to 1 diffs both limited slip, front universals at the wheels were a weak point if left locked on dry ground.

😂 that _was_ easy.

sounds like you already have good video ideas. all good, truck videos, features, mods and upgrades, ...how to run, load and secure heavy equipment, how to hook up the tow rig... projects, talk about your business, etc.... 🤷‍♂️👍🏽👍🏻

Great video. On my 17 F-350 the locking hubs seem so be seized up. I haven’t had any time to mess with them but I’m glad to know that they’re supposed to move freely

My wife had an 08 F250 XLT with the Transfer Case lever on the floor — I remember really liking that at the time. My 22 F350 has the electronic lock (of course) and I like the cleaner look in the truck, but that lever was rad.

By the way, your video's are awesome. I really liked the one you did explaining the difference between the F350 and 250.

Thanks. Excellent explanations. Would like to see a video on how to install a 5th wheel mount and how to attach the 5th wheel trailer. I own a 2006 F250 Super Duty 6.0L

I was watching this video since my f250 is the first vehicle with manual hubs. But I thought it was funny because your driveway looks just like mine my super duty on the left and my wife’s TRD pro 4Runner on the right.

Great explaination on the hubs. My 08 hubs are Lock or Auto selector, same as your 09 would've been. I had the same happen, engaged 4 wheel drive but realized I had nothing going to the front wheels when trying to go up an icy hill. Unfortunately, my front aftermarket wheels had solid center caps with no way to access the hub selectors, and I actually thought the problem was in the transfer case or in the shiftonthefly system. After I got back and some Googling, I discovered they were vacuum actuated like you pointed out, and my vacuum pump was running continuously due to a broken vacuum line (brittle spaghetti tubing crap) in front of the degas bottle. Since then I've replaced most of the tubing that was accessible, and changed out my wheel center caps.
