U.S. slams Canada's NATO defence spending

The U.S. is ramping up its pressure on Canada to meet its spending obligations in NATO.

A "blunt" letter from the U.S. government was delivered to Canada's Department of National Defence which criticized Canadian defence spending levels and repeated American demands that Canada meet NATO targets.

Meeting our NATO obligations wouldnt kill us. If Canada doesn't adequately defend the arctic we lose any claim to it and it becomes a free for all. Its disingenuous to expect the US to pay for our protection just because its in their interest to.
